How to read the trends

Each series is computed within one stream (a source in one language under one selection regime) and compared with that stream's own recent past. Country lines combine streams with fixed weights, so the change measures are not moved by sources entering or leaving the collection; the level is, and the Coverage tab marks where that happens.

Tone is the expected share of a document's sentences that express a dimension, scored by a classifier trained to reproduce a zero-shot AI model. It has been checked against that AI model only, not yet against human coders. Compare a stream with itself over time and read the quoted sentences before drawing conclusions.

Stance is the tone of sentences that mention a target, not tone directed at it. Salience is the share of documents that mention a target.
